Peace that Can Be Endlessly Known

I was scheduled to deliver a sermon at the Hebron this evening, but they had some COVID cases, so they weren't able to have evening services. They asked me to record a lesson instead, so I thought I would share it with you. As usual, you can watch the sermon below or read it for yourself.

  1. I am having trouble watching on my computer, but I read it. Just last night I was reading Philippians and seeing how powerful this letter is, written by Paul while in prison. When you covered this last time, you talked of Paul’s joy. This time you covered peace. There is so much packed in this letter: humility, love for the brethren, peace, joy, encouragement, and contentment in Christ. People talk about peace and want to go to war. Imagine if Stephen had reacted like many “patriots” and killed Saul to “defend himself” as he was being persecuted and martyred? We would not have most of the New Testament (written by Saul/Paul)! God’s love and plan is so much bigger and better than ours; we need to yield to Him, knowing His way is not our way. It is the only way. I look forward to watching when my computer stops acting up!

  2. A few years ago, I made bullet points on How To Find Peace from Philippians 4! So glad you covered this! Got to watch the video!
HOW TO FIND PEACE (from Philippians 4)
    1- Rejoice
    2- Have a gentle spirit
    3- Don’t be anxious
    4- Pray, ask, thank God
    5- Focus on the good
6- Be content in your circumstances
4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! 5 Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. 9 The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. –Philippians 4:4-9
11 Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. –Philippians 4:11

  3. Great teaching! Bottom line: Finding peace can be summed up in this one command of Jesus: “A new commandment I give to you, that you should love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another.” John 13:34. Simple, but not easy! 😉
